You may have heard the expression, "The cobbler's children have no shoes." There are many great bald hairstylists and skilled construction workers with incomplete renovation projects at home. These are examples of irony you hear about and have a chuckle over. These professionals create masterpieces for their clients, but they lack the time, energy, genetics, or inspiration to apply their craftsmanship to their own children, heads and houses.

As a trusted international currency authority, the XE team doesn't just provide services to people and businesses on life-changing cross-border journeys. Many of our employees and their families are expats from their homelands, with a rich first-hand understanding of what it's like to leave friends and loved ones behind. To start a new life in a country which is not their homeland.

XE's workforce is rich in cultural diversity, international experiences and understanding of living. Throughout our offices in Europe, North America, New Zealand and Australia, our people have a first-hand understanding of the priorities of emigrants and expats. Many XE employees and their immediate family have experienced their own cross border journeys, from countries spanning the globe.

Context is Everything

Author A.D. Garrett was right. At XE, when we talk about the priorities and goals of our customers, we reap the benefits of the diverse cultures, backgrounds and perspectives of our colleagues and their families. Their international journeys help us understand how to better serve and communicate with our customers.

This is the first in a series of articles which will share some of the international stories from the colleagues who inspire us every day.

We'll be featuring many of the stories these discussions revealed.

Empowering customer’s international lives through foreign currency exchange data and international money transfer services is what we do. A globally distributed organization of expats, immigrants and people dedicated to empowering international lives is who we are.

Stay tuned to our blog for our expat stories, and we look forward to hearing from you about yours on our Facebook page.
