MOSCOW, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Russian stocks opened flat on Friday in

holiday-thinned trade and the rouble fell, tracking a slide in oil prices from

three-month highs.

This weekend's Orthodox New Year holiday marks the end to a quiet trading

period that started on Jan. 1

'The lack of interest in Russia currently is one reason why Moscow's bourses

reacted with almost disinterest to positive economic indicators from China

yesterday,' Chris Weafer, chief strategist at Sberbank Research wrote in a

morning note.

'It will be back to more normal business from Monday.'

At 0730 GMT, the dollar-denominated RTS index was 0.1 percent down

at 1,568.09 points, while its rouble-traded peer MICEX was unchanged at

1,507.02 points. The indexes had closed little changed on Thursday.

Trading volumes are around a third lower than their daily average.

Data from EPFR Global fund tracking showed that Russia-dedicated funds for

the week through to Wednesday recorded net inflows of $56 million.

'This was the first week of significant inflows into Russian equities since

the first week of October last year, however still very modest,' analyst at

Uralsib wrote in a note.

A drop in Brent oil prices on Thursday to below $112 per barrel

pushed the MICEX oil and gas index down 0.2 percent.

Shares in oil major Rosneft fell 0.5 percent.

Lower crude also hurt the rouble, which was down 0.2 percent versus the

dollar at 30.26 and 0.3 percent lower against the euro at 40.14 . It traded down 0.3 percent at 34.70 against the dollar-euro

basket the central bank uses as an exchange rate guideline.

Trading on the Russian debt market was also subdued, with the yield on

country's benchmark Eurobond maturing in 2030 stable at 2.77

percent.
