* KENYA - The Central Bank will auction 182-day
and 364-day Treasury bills whose yields edged
higher at last week's sale.
* MALAWI - October inflation data. Headline consumer
inflation slowed to 21.7 percent year-on-year in September,
from 23.3 percent in August. Data expected any time.

SOUTH AFRICA MARKETS
South African shares lost ground on Tuesday as investors
took profits following a recent rally, while a slightly
stronger rand also put pressure on mining and dual-listed
South Africa's rand turned weaker against the dollar late
on Tuesday after power utility Eskom warned supply would be
tight for the next two weeks and urged industrial users to
The Kenyan shilling firmed against the dollar on
Tuesday, as investors bought the local currency ahead of a
Treasury bond auction this week, while shares retreated from
a five-year high.
Kenya's benchmark NSE-20 share index, which is
up about 23 percent this year, retreated from a five-year
high reached on Monday, dipping 0.1 percent to 5,052.63.
Nigeria's central bank held interest rates steady at 12
percent for the thirteenth time in a row on Tuesday, leaving

in a move likely to set up a clash between a hard-pressed
industry and government's need for increased revenue.
Ghana will target economic growth of 8 percent in 2014 and
will seek to trim its budget deficit to 8.5 percent of gross
domestic product, Finance Minister Seth Terkper announced in

Tanzania's cabinet has approved a long-delayed natural gas
