MADRID, April 30 (Reuters) - Spain's gross domestic product shrank 0.5 percent on a quarterly basis in the January to March period, the seventh straight quarter of contractions, according to preliminary data released on Tuesday.
That was in line with economists' forecasts and compared to a contraction of 0.8 percent registered at the end of last year.
On an annual basis the economy shrank by 2 percent, according to the National Statistics Institute, after a 1.9 percent drop in the previous quarter, and in line with economists' forecasts in a Reuters poll.
