   Rates are updated every 60 seconds. If your device has the latest rates, a timer temporarily replaces the refresh button indicating when the next update is available. After 60 seconds, the refresh button reappears and you can Pull to Refresh rates.
2. The buttons to access currency charts are missing. What's wrong?
   Chart buttons are hidden when there is no Internet connection or if there are fewer than two currencies on your list. To access charts, ensure you have internet connectivity or include more then one currency on your list.
3. How much data does XE Currency download?
   XE Currency downloads different types of data:

   • Exchange Rates: approximately 1-3KB per request, depending on the number currencies selected
   • Charts: approximately 20KB per chart
   • List of Currencies: approximately 10KB
   • Help Text: approximately 65KB

   These numbers do not apply to the BlackBerry version prior to 1.0.0 through 2.0.0.

4. Are your currency rates "buy" or "sell" rates?
   The rates in our free information services are neither "buy" nor "sell" rates. Instead, they are mid-market rates derived from the mid-point between the "buy" and "sell" rates from global currency markets. Our free information services always list the mid-market rate because it indicates the value of a currency that is not weighted towards buying or selling.

5. Which currencies are included?
   We list all available world currencies. When adding a currency you can sort the list by popularity, currency code or by country.

10. Why does the calculator tell me I'm dividing by zero?
    If the calculator sees that your expression involves dividing by zero, it will warn you and stop accepting input until that is fixed. Use to go back and replace the value.
11. Why does XE Currency want to use my location?
    If you choose to allow XE Currency to use your current location, that data and your current base currency are logged and may be displayed on our Currency Map Mashup.
    Why? We thought it would be fun to see where in the world people are using XE Currency.
12. What does the grey highlight on the currency mean?
    When "Pin To Top" is turned off, the highlighted currency is the base, or 'from' currency. All other currencies are the counter or 'to' currencies.
13. What do the colored numbers mean?
    The blue numbers are used to display up to the digits that are used by the currency. Conversions that include more decimals than are used by the currency are shown in grey.
14. What does the third row for each currency indicate?
    Depending on you settings, the third row might indicate the following:

    1. Inverse Conversion: the reverse currency conversion with the 'from' amount
    2. Inverse Unit Conversion: the reverse currency conversion with the amount set to one
    3. Unit Conversion (Default): the currency conversion with the amount set to one
15. What is Shake to Reset?
    Shake to Reset is a feature to reset the current base currency amount to 1.00, allowing for quick unit conversions between currencies.

    XE Currency sends the device ID to authenticate when getting rates from our servers. If you allow it, XE Currency will also send your location for use on our Currency Map Mashup.
17. Why aren't the country flags showing up?
    Country flags only appear when you have Internet connectivity. To view the flags, connect to the Internet and refresh the rates.

1. How can I get more help?

1. XE Currency can't connect to the internet, but networking works in other apps. What's wrong?
   Versions 2.0.1 and up allow you to set your preferred connection method and makes fewer assumptions about how your device is connected to the internet. It also remembers the last successful connection method and tries it first, hopefully improving the stability of connections. We now support the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) and BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) in XE Currency in version 2.0.1, which should improve internet access.
2. Numeric entry problem on BlackBerry Pearl 9105
   The BlackBerry Pearl 9105 keyboard has the decimal (.) and number one (1) on the same key, which causes a problem for XE Currency. When that key is pressed, a decimal is displayed, and there is no way to enter the number one. For simple numbers, a trick is to use the calculator: enter a multiple of the number you want and then divide. For example, to enter 1.1, type 2.2/2. This will be fixed in a future release.
3. On my BlackBerry touchscreen device, the keyboard won't disappear and it's hard to use. What should I do?
   We are currently working to update the application in order to provide a more user-friendly experience for devices such as the BlackBerry Storm and BlackBerry Storm2. In the meantime, for a better experience, please go to Options -> Applications and turn off compatibility mode. To bring up a keyboard when not using the app in compatibility mode, please go to the options within the app, and click the Show Keyboard button.

   The orange currency is the base, or 'from' currency. The rest are 'to' currencies, and are green. Conversions that include more decimals than are used by the currency show the extra numbers in brown or dark grey. When editing, red text means that the current entry is invalid and will not be parsed by the application. Light grey number indicates that you have not entered any numbers, and shows the default values that will be entered.
10. Can I quickly clear the currently entered amount for input?
    To quickly clear what is currently entered in the field to be converted, simply click on it. On touch screen devices, you there is a clear button on the pop-up calculator.
11. What is Double-click Space Bar to Reset?
    This allows a user with BlackBerry handheld devices with a full keyboard to quickly set the current currency amount to 1.00 by double clicking the space bar.
12. Can I quickly reset the base currency to 1.0?
    To quickly reset the base currency to 1.0, simply double click on the base currency. On touchscreen devices, you can reset the base currency to 1.0 by tapping on a currency, choosing 1.0 and pressing enter. If your device has an accelerometer, you can use "shake to reset", which allows you to shake the device to quickly set the base currency to 1.0.
13. I've made a mistake while entering a number, is there a revert option?
    To exit entering a number into a field, hit the back button. The previous value will be retained in the field.

1. How do I change my base currency?
   On the main screen, scroll to the currency you want to set as your base currency and click on it. On touch screen devices, simply tap on a currency. Once the base currency is changed, you can change the amount to convert.

5. How do I make a conversion?
   First, add the currencies you'd like to convert to your main list of currencies. This can be done through the menu option 'Edit Currencies.' Once you have your currencies on the main list, click on the currency you are converting from. Then, simply enter the amount you'd like to convert and press enter. All other amounts in the list will change so that they are equivalent amounts in their respective currencies.
6. How do I reorder the currencies?
   You can reorder the currencies by going to the 'Edit Currencies' screen by choosing the 'Edit Currencies' menu option. You will see a list of currencies you currently have in use. On a touch screen device, simply drag the move icon up or down to the position you would like. On a non-touch screen device, click on a currency and select move from the dialog box and the currency will turn blue. You can then use the trackpad to reposition the currency in the list. Click again to place the currency in its new spot.
7. How do I set the network connection type?

   The rates in our free information services are neither "buy" nor "sell" rates. Instead, they are mid-market rates derived from the mid-point between the "buy" and "sell" rates from global currency markets. Our free information services always list the mid-market rate because it indicates the value of a currency that is not weighted towards buying or selling.

   "Buy" and "sell" rates include overheads and profit margins that are independently set by foreign exchange providers; their rates can vary a lot and will differ from the mid-market rate, so we recommend you shop around. To send a cheap money transfer online, use XE Trade Money Transfers ►.

3. The buttons to access currency charts are missing. What's wrong?
   Chart buttons are hidden when there is no Internet connection. To access charts, ensure you have internet connectivity.
4. Which currencies are included?
   We list all available world currencies. When adding a currency you can sort the list by popularity, currency code or by country.

   Please note: The "country" list is not a definitive list of all countries using the currency. Where a currency is used in more than one country, only the original country will be listed. This includes currencies such as USD United States Dollars, and EUR Euro, which are all used in multiple countries.

   Obsolete currencies are supported by the XE Full XE Currency Converter.

10. What data does XE Currency send?
    XE Currency sends the device ID to authenticate when getting rates from our servers.

    Country flags only appear when you have Internet connectivity. To view the flags, connect to the Internet and refresh the rates.
